Womens Commission - What We Do

The Seattle Women’s Commission amplifies voices of women in Seattle by identifying the most pressing issues they face and advocating for community-driven solutions. In addition to working with the Mayor, City Council, and City departments, we promote awareness of women’s rights through policy recommendation, community outreach, strategic partnerships, and special events. We prioritize issues experienced by all women and those most impacted by gender bias, including transgender, non-binary, and gender non-conforming people who may not identify as women.

Based on the voices of the community and our commission’s mission of supporting women, our primary focus areas in 2026-2028 are:

  • Gender-based violence response and prevention
  • Housing stability
  • Women's health and wellness

Our efforts to understand the breadth of these complex issues and their impacts are constantly evolving. Visit our 2026-2028 work plan to learn about key activities we're undertaking with respect to policy, advocacy, and increasing awareness of these crucial issues.
