Teen Late Night
Teen Late Night is a supportive environment for teens ages 13-19, focusing on positive teen interactions and engagement. Most Late Night programs are from 7pm-12am on Fridays and/or Saturdays. All teens are welcome, no pre-registration required and no cost to participate.
Teen Late Night offers:
- Educational services including tutoring, computer, and teen parenting programs.
- Intercultural activities, such as ethnic dance and bead-making.
- Athletics including basketball, volleyball, martial arts, and more.
- Career Readiness opportunities and certifications, and the Teen Late Night internship.
- Caring City staff who listen, and a positive alternative to life on the street.
Participant Forms
Participant E-13 Form is required to participate in Teen Swims, off-site field trips, internships, or to opt-out of photo model consent.
Although we encourage all youth to have an E-13 on file, the E-13 form is not required for on-site drop-in programming.
Paid Internships with SPR Teen Programs
Program Description
The Seattle Teen Late Night Internship is a paid, 6-month workforce development program for teens ages 13–18 who are currently enrolled in Middle School or High School. Interns gain hands-on experience working in recreation, youth programs, community engagement, and special events at Seattle Parks & Recreation Teen Late Night sites.
This internship prepares teens for future employment by building leadership skills, communication skills, teamwork, and real-world job experience.
Eligibility Requirements
To apply, teens must:
- Be 13–18 years old
- Be a Middle School or High School student (grades 6–12)
- Complete at least one cohort of the Youth Leadership Program (40 hours in a quarter)
- Be available for required trainings and scheduled shifts
Completion of the Youth Leadership Program is required before applying.
Cohort Duration
The Teen Late Night Internship runs in two six-month cohorts each year:
- January – June
- June – December
Interns remain in their cohort for the full six-month period.
Application Timeline
The application period opens one month prior to the end of each cohort:
- Applications for January–June cohort open in December
- Applications for June–December cohort open in May
Applicants are encouraged to apply early, as spaces are limited.
Compensation
This is a paid City of Seattle intermittent employee position. Interns are paid the City of Seattle minimum wage.
- 2025: $20.76
- 2026: $21.30
Locations
Interns may be placed at any Teen Late Night location, including:
- Bitter Lake Community Center
- Garfield Teen Life Center
- Meadowbrook Teen Life Center
- Rainier Beach Teen Life Center
- Southwest Teen Life Center
- Van Asselt Community Center
- ... or additional community sites as assigned
Placement depends on site needs and applicant availability.
Intern Duties
Intern responsibilities may include:
- Assisting with Late Night check-ins and attendance
- Supporting recreation programs, activities, and tournaments
- Helping with community dinners and large events
- Assisting with service projects
- Setting up and cleaning activity spaces
- Helping staff lead youth engagement activities
- Modeling professionalism and leadership to peers
- Supporting Teen Late Night safety and program guidelines
- Participating in mandatory trainings and meetings
