Rainier View

Project Overview

We’re making improvements on Renton Ave S at S Fountain St in Rainier View to make it safer and easier for people to cross Renton Ave S and access nearby bus stops. These improvements were requested by community through previous Home Zone outreach.

This project is being built as part of the Neighborhood-Initiated Safety Partnership Program, which works with the highest need communities to design and build safety improvements. We expect construction to begin in late 2026.

Project elements include:

  • Two crosswalks on Renton Ave S at S Fountain St
  • Two pairs of flashing pedestrian crossing signs
  • Concrete median islands
  • One speed cushion on Renton Ave S near S Fountain Pl
  • Bus stop loading zone improvements on Renton Ave S between S Founain Pl and S Fountain St
  • A northbound speed limit sign and speed feedback sign (uses radar to display your driving speed)

Design
