South Park

Project Overview

We’re making improvements on the Duwamish Trail and on S Henderson St to make it safer and easier for people to walk, bike, and roll in the neighborhood.

These upgrades were requested by community during a “walkshop” in June 2025 and are being built as part of the Neighborhood-Initiated Safety Partnership Program, which works with the highest need communities to design and build safety improvements. We expect construction to begin in late 2026.

Duwamish Trail

We’re working with students at Concord International Elementary School to design pavement art for the Duwamish Trail. The artwork will be installed along the walking route between the school and the South Park Branch Public Library. Project elements include:

  • New student-designed pavement art on the Duwamish Trail, S Henderson St, and 8th Ave S

South Henderson St

We're improving the sidewalk and planting strip on the south side of S Henderson St between 10th Ave S and 12th Ave S. Project elements include:

  • Sidewalk repair
  • Concrete wheel stops
  • 15 trees
  • Curb ramps

Parking Removal

To make these improvements, we’ll need to remove on-street parking on the south side of of S Henderson St between 10th Ave S and 12th Ave S. Parking on the north side of the street will stay as it is.

Design
